Savoring Two Decades Together: Jana Ina and Giovanni Zarrella
Seasoned collective collaborators since two decades - A cohesive group, unified for two decades.
Badass; unfiltered advice ahead
A whopping two decades of marriage, two teenagers, and two rammed schedules don't slow down TV presenter Jana Ina (48) and her hubby Giovanni Zarrella (47). In a candid interview for energy provider Eon at a testing lab in Essen, the power couple admitted, "We're each other's biggest cheerleaders. It's no contest, just support."
Despite their utopian bond, family life isn't exactly low key. Shows, broadcasts, and school appointments dangle from their bursting calendars. So how do they manage chaos? "We got a shared family calendar, no secrets. Even the kids' check-ups get logged," Jana Ina explains on camera. Family first, always: "We prioritize our kids' special moments. Forget sleep tonight, we'll catch up on it later."
Planning for the Big 2-0: anniversary
Their 20th wedding anniversary approaches in August, but plans remain hazy. No big surprise, considering spontaneity is their middle name. As Jana Ina chuckles, "We're making it up as we go, but we'll figure it out." Despite their public personas, the Zarrellas are skilled at drawing the line between personal spheres and work. "My IG feed shows snippets of our daily life, even the teenage tumult. But the kiddos are off-limits, and rightly so," Jana Ina confesses.
Smiles and waves greet them in their daily rounds, whether at the supermarket or bakery. "People treat us like friends or neighbors. My man can charm the baker with a tune," reveals Jana Ina. "As long as folks are kind, we reciprocate with kindness."
The Zarrellas' seamless teamwork isn't merely limited to parenting and agenda juggling. They've also got energy efficiency down pat: "Giovanni keeps an eye on smart-pricing for my electric vehicle. I flip switches to save energy, turning off lights or unplugging devices," explains Jana Ina during the interview about the energy transition. Kids join in too: "They remind us to conserve when it's sunny, 'Turn off the light!'"
Sustainability: their family's way of life
Sustainability is second nature for the Brazilian-born Jana Ina. Switching to an electric vehicle was a stepping stone; solar panels next. "It looked just right on a neighbor's roof," she shares. "I even wised up on solar panel basics—now I know why my car charges at night. Plus, it's better for my wallet and the environment." Hubby Giovanni approves: "My Swabian-born partner is frugal to the core."
Conscious choices keep devices turned off at home to conserve electricity. "You don't need the charger plugged in all day. Just plug it in when you need it," Jana adds. Energy-saving opportunities abound, she believes, "Small changes add up to big savings by year-end. You help the environment and your wallet. That's the gist: everyone should contribute!"
