Aachen to Resume Mobility Week in 2025

The city of Aachen is gearing up for the European Mobility Week (EMW), taking place from September 16th to 22nd, 2020. This year's motto, "Mobility for all", promises a variety of events and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable mobility.

During EMW, a range of mobility offers and traffic topics will be presented in Aachen. The focus is on sustainable mobility, with the city offering a test week for various means of transport. Citizens can test E-bikes, E-cars, and electric scooters for free for a week during EMW. For those interested in cargo bikes, different models and large format trailers are available for the cargo bike training.

The "Mobility special" event will take place on Sunday, 21st of September. At this event, the city and ASEAG will have information stands, providing residents with the opportunity to learn more about sustainable mobility options.

Participants in different EMW events can take part in a raffle and win one of three overnight trips. Additionally, the most active cities will be awarded at the end of the European Mobility Week.

The European Steps Challenge, a one-week step challenge organised by EIT Urban Mobility and Walk15, is also taking place parallel to EMW 2020 in Aachen. Every step counts towards the challenge, whether for work, sports, or at the supermarket. Participants can register for the European Steps Challenge via the Walk15 app.

The SmartCity Demonstrator, built by primary school children, will be in action in the city library from September 16th to 19th. Reading hours for children aged three and up are available at the city library and branches Depot and Haaren during EMW.

Looking ahead to 2025, Valencia is set to organise the European Mobility Week in cooperation with EIT Urban Mobility and Walk15. The city will also participate in the "European Steps Challenge." Training opportunities for children and adults are offered during EMW 2025. A new training is available for anyone who wants to test a cargo bike in a safe environment.

Join Aachen in celebrating sustainable mobility during the European Mobility Week. Every step you take towards a greener future counts!
