AI Reshaping Kazakhstan's Legal Sector: New Professions Emerge, But Human Touch Remains Key
Kazakhstan's legal and labor sectors are evolving with the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). While AI promises increased efficiency, local experts stress the importance of human involvement in news and employment. Vice-Minister Olzhas Ordabayev predicts 239 new professions in the next decade due to technological shifts. Among them is 'cyber lawyer', specializing in digital and virtual reality legal protection. However, lawyers Ermek Koishinov and Bauyrzhan Azanov agree that human personality and emotions remain crucial in legal work, making full AI replacement unlikely. AI is already present in Kazakh courts. A robot drafts judicial acts for cases with limited discretion. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court develops 'Digital Judicial Practice Analytics' to analyze cases using AI and machine learning. The goal is to enhance efficiency and consistency, not replace human judges. President Tokayev has backed these developments, tasking the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection to map new professions and competencies. AI's role in Kazakhstan's legal sector is expanding, with new professions like cyber lawyers emerging. However, human lawyers emphasize the importance of human factors in protecting citizens' rights. The focus is on using AI to augment, not replace, human expertise.
