Alterations in Harbor Operations During Seasonal Transitions
The Alderney Harbour Office, a crucial hub for maritime activities in the island, is set to reopen its doors from Monday, 28th September, following a temporary closure. The reopening days will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
However, there are some changes to the usual services due to the closure. The water taxi will cease operations at 21:00 on Sunday, 28th September. This means that those relying on the water taxi for their commute should make alternative arrangements for the evening of the 28th.
In addition, the Harbour Office will be closed at weekends from the 28th of September. This closure includes both Saturday and Sunday. For all other emergencies, the traditional 999 number remains the best course of action.
VHF traffic and emergency transmissions should be directed to Guernsey Coastguard or CROSS JOBOURG outside of the Harbour Office's normal operating hours. This is to ensure that urgent matters are handled promptly and effectively.
Other changes include the closure of the Harbour Showers and the removal of the dinghy and passenger landing pontoons over the next two weeks. Boat owners are encouraged to recover any mooring warps and tackle from their allocated buoy once their vessel has been lifted from the water. Local boat owners should also remove their tenders before the pontoon is lifted.
These changes are part of the ongoing efforts to maintain the harbour's safety and efficiency. Boat owners are advised to keep updated with any further announcements regarding the harbour's operations.
