Art exhibition taking place outdoors on its fourth occasion
Viersen°openart Festival Returns for its Eleventh Edition
The vibrant town of Viersen, Germany, is gearing up for the return of its annual open-air art exhibition, the Viersen°openart Festival. This year marks the event's eleventh edition, and it promises to be a celebration of contemporary art with a strong emphasis on community engagement and participatory programs.
The festival, organised by a dedicated group of eight individuals, including artists, event planners, and South City enthusiasts, has been a staple in Viersen since 2013. This year's event will once again showcase the works of forty artists from the Lower Rhine region and the Ruhr area, as well as young artists who have achieved outstanding places in the international art competition "Jugend creativ" of the Volksbank.
One of the festival's highlights will be the UrbanArt live act by Anna Myrzyglod, who will use a chainsaw and spray can to create a dynamic and captivating piece of art. This performance is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on the festival day.
In addition to the visual art, music will also be a significant part of the festival. Unplugged performances will take place on the art festival street from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring acts such as Markus Fegers, Jimmy-van-Heusen-Trio, Paintings on concrete, Homebrew, and New Roads.
Thomas Virnich, a participant of Documenta VIII, has taken over the patronage for the art festival. Other patrons include Wolfgang Adam, Emil Schult, Stefan Kaiser, Peter Rübsam, Martin Lersch, and Irene Hardjanegara.
The festival will also offer opportunities for art enthusiasts to donate framed pictures to a charity action, "Viersen makes art!", for a good cause. Pictures can still be handed in until August 12th at the wine shop "La Cava", Hauptstraße 135 in Viersen.
The gourmet garden with wine and Mediterranean specialties will be set up by the wine shop "La Cava" during the art festival. Frank Schiffers will present "Kaffee & Konsorten" in a coffee booth atmosphere for coffee enjoyment during the art festival.

Uwe Peters from the organizing team states that they work on a voluntary basis to promote art and strengthen the South City.
While specific schedules and a full list of participating artists for the 2021 festival are not explicitly stated in the available search results, the festival is known for its heart and ambition, bringing together many participants for community engagement in contemporary art under open-air conditions.
