Art Festival Tage der Kunst in Waldniel Set to Captivate Audience
Prepare for an extraordinary artistic extravaganza as the town of Waldniel, near Viersen, hosts the Tage der Kunst in Waldniel on August 17, 2025. This event, part of the larger viersen°openart festival, promises to be the largest open-air art festival in the Niederrhein region.
Over 40 visual artists, mainly hailing from the Niederrhein region and the Ruhr area in Germany, will exhibit their works in various forms, including painting, drawing, graphics, photography, and sculpture. The artworks will be displayed in white pavilions and open-air settings within the Lyzeumsgarten area.
The festival has gained a reputation for showcasing high-quality art and attracting recognized artists and patrons. Thomas Virnich, a Mönchengladbach artist who participated in Documenta VIII, has been announced as the 2025 patron.
On Saturday, September 6th, the focus shifts to a vibrant art parade. Ten groups and two live bands will fill Waldniel's market square with colour and music. This parade signifies a modern city partnership between Germany, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, with the Dutch municipality of Nederweert officially sealing their partnership following the event.
On Sunday, September 7th, the festival takes on a more educational and family-friendly approach. Alongside the all-day exhibitions (11 AM to 6 PM), free thematic tours will be offered, including children's tours and bilingual art routes.
The closing concert "SPLASH!" by the North Rhine-Westphalia State Music Council will take place at 6:30 PM on Sunday, September 7th, in St. Michael's Church. The concert is curated by Emil Schult, co-founder of Kraftwerk, and Lothar Manteuffel.
All events from September 5th to 7th are free and do not require registration. For more information about the events, visit tagederkunst.de. Don't miss out on this unforgettable artistic journey!
