Autumn festivities in Nordhorn showcase colossal Ferris wheels and costumed superheroes
The city of Northhorner is gearing up for its annual folk festival, the Northhorner Autumn Fair, which will take place from Friday, October 26 to Tuesday, October 30, 2018, on the Neumarkt. Mayor Thomas Berling looks forward to the event, describing it as a unique and special occasion every year.
The fair will open at 3 pm on Friday and will run until around 11 pm every day. One of the main attractions will be the 'Lounge 360°' giant wheel, towering above the fairgrounds by the Vechte. Passengers can enjoy a panoramic view of the fair while spinning the gondola around its own axis with a hand crank, thanks to the 'Montgolfière' ride, certified 'family-friendly' by the IHK.
For thrill-seekers, the 'Super Dance' is a fun and bounce machine known as a 'wipers' ride. The 'Super Dance' beaker game is a popular feature of the ride, where participants hold onto a plastic beaker filled with water during the ride. The winner of the game receives a free ride.
Another exciting attraction is the 'Avenger Royal' swing ride, which offers a breathtaking experience 79 feet above the ground, featuring a superhero theme. The 'Villa Wahnsinn' is a themed run ride, offering extreme fun and a colorful house party experience.
The 'Haunted Castle' is a unique attraction at the fair, combining a horror maze, ghost train, and simulation. Live actors, rotating gondolas, and the latest horror effects promise a spine-tingling experience.
The fair will also feature a wide range of food and classic Kirmes specialties like cotton candy, roasted almonds, and many more sweet and savory treats, completing the festival experience.
Shops in the Northhorner city center will be open on Kirmes Sunday for a shopping spree. Kirmes Monday is Family Day, with showmen offering special discounts and a department of Lebenshilfe Nordhorn traditionally invited for a tour of the Kirmes.
Mayor Thomas Berling and Werner Wegener from the Northhorner Showmen's Association will open the fair. The Northhorner Autumn Fair attracts not only many Nordhorner residents but also countless visitors from the entire region and the Netherlands.
The grand closing fireworks on Tuesday at 10 PM mark the peak of the Northhorner Autumn Fair. The 'Heroes' action ride will make a comeback at the fair, featuring superheroes like Batman, Thor, and Captain America. The Northhorner Autumn Fair is the region's favorite folk festival, promising an unforgettable experience for all.
