"Berlin Zoo Now Features Wild Boars Named Amy Schweinhouse"
Wild Boars Amy Schweinhouse and Keiler Minogue Thrive at Tegeler See
In a heartwarming turn of events, two wild boars named Amy Schweinhouse and Keiler Minogue have become the newest residents of the Tegeler See wildlife enclosure near Berlin. The duo, who moved into their new home in April 2025, have recently welcomed a baby piglet into their family.
The surprise arrival of the piglet, named Ziros after the storm that occurred on the night of its birth, took the caretakers by surprise. Amy, a one-year-old sow, kept the newborn well hidden, adapting swiftly to the challenging circumstances. Since then, the family of three has been flourishing in their new environment.
The names Amy Schweinhouse and Keiler Minogue are playful tributes to the late soul singer Amy Winehouse and pop sensation Kylie Minogue, respectively. These names were chosen from almost 80 suggestions submitted on Instagram. Interestingly, Keiler Minogue is a male wild boar, a name that traditionally refers to females in the wild boar species.
Meanwhile, there is no recent information available about the status of Hirsch Max, a fallow deer that initially went missing during the storm chaos at the Spandau Revierförsterei. The focus of the recent reports has primarily been on the wild boars at the Tegeler See Revierförsterei.
Before the arrival of Amy and Keiler, the Tegeler See enclosure was empty for 11 weeks. The revitalization and active management of the wildlife enclosure at Tegeler See continue to be a significant aspect of the ongoing efforts to preserve and protect the local wildlife.
As the family of three continues to grow and adapt to their new home, the Tegeler See Revierförsterei remains a sanctuary for these fascinating creatures, offering a glimpse into the world of wild boars for visitors and locals alike.
