Campus of UrFU is to be adorned with jasmine and larch trees in its second phase.
In the construction project, green spaces are a significant part of the landscape, including the planting of 56,000 square meters of grassy areas near the Institute of Economics and Management, the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies, the Specialized Academic and Research Center, and almost 500 trees and shrubs. Additionally, over 100 benches, urinals, trash cans, and sports/recreational zones will be established.
For instance, near the Institute of Radioelectronics and Information Technologies, an amphitheater and bike racks will be created, as well as tree-lined pathways with birch, cherry trees, larch, apple trees, pines, spruces, cherries, privet, spirea, blueberries, honeysuckle, and juniper.
The Special Academic and Research Center will feature student gathering areas, a multipurpose field for physical preparation, running tracks, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts. The installation of bike racks, benches, trash cans, fitness equipment, and plantings including larch, apple, maple, rowan, blueberries, honeysuckle, fern, and moss will also occur.
Currently, over 1,000 workers are busy on the construction site, with 30 modern pieces of machinery in use. The completion of three university buildings, totaling 100,000 square meters, is planned for the last quarter of 2025.
"Timur Ufimtsev, General Director of Sinara-Development", confirmed that by 2030, Russia will establish a network of 25 modern campuses, with the Russian government and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education leading the efforts, supported by the National Project "Youth and Children". - University Developments: International collaborations and new educational centers, like the "Institute of Open Education in the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin" at Heihe University, are emerging at universities like the South Ural State University[4].
- IT Education: By the end of 2024, over 500 universities in Russia are expected to offer IT-focused study programs[5].
The Special Academic and Research Center, in addition to its multipurpose field and sports facilities, will also feature a news section in its student gathering areas, updating students on the latest happenings and trends. The home-and-garden section of this center will include gardening activities, such as planting blueberries, honeysuckle, fern, and moss, creating a relaxing lifestyle atmosphere within the campus.
