A Fresh Tack:

Lias, the Bouncing Baby Brother

Straight from the Johanna Etienne Hospital, Ilona Kinna introduces her second child, Lias, to the world. Sharing the same delivery room as his older sister, Diana (seven years her senior), Lias's arrival is a significant family event.

"Diana loved being an only child," Ilona jokes, "But Lias came riding in with hiccups and lots of energy, and now he's all love and rarely cries."

At home, the family — including family dog Nala and cat Milo — is eager to meet the lively newcomer. Diana, clearly thrilled, is proud of her role as big sister. Nala, known for her affection for kids, will undoubtedly shower Lias with love, making the most of the upcoming parental leave to bond.

Johanna Helene Vogt, our baby of the week at the Lukaskrankenhaus, bears the striking family tradition in her very names.

"Helene spans six generations in our family," says mother Laura Vogt, herself a Helene. Grandmother Johanna, at 90, is ecstatic to meet her youngest great-grandchild.

At 52 centimeters and 3,590 grams, Johanna Helene was born in the evening on January 19th, making her a true Düsseldorf resident. Unlike her parents, who hail from Paderborn and Düsseldorf respectively, Laura was born and raised in Paderborn before moving to Düsseldorf for her orthopedic technician training.

Laura and husband Philipp Jeschke, a service technician for hydrogen energy systems, met at the Düsseldorf Christmas market in 2018 and tied the knot in 2024. They settled in Neuss-Meertal in 2021 and now call the Augustinusviertel their home.

Living mere steps from the Lukas hospital, with its attached children's clinic, proved convenient when deciding between the University Hospital Düsseldorf and the Lukas hospital for Johanna's birth. The proximity and the hospital's commitment to pediatric care were decisive factors.

In the spirit of change, Johanna Helene Vogt's home-and-garden life will soon welcome another member, as her other family members eagerly anticipate the arrival of Lias, who brings a new other lifestyle dynamic with his energy and love. Grandmother Johanna, at 90, will also be part of this other lifestyle shift, meeting her youngest great-grandchild and adding another generation to the tradition spanning six generations in the family.
