Blooming Tributes for War Heroes: The City-Wide Victory Flowerbed Campaign
Stepan Vasilyevich Kornilin, a centenarian hero, lived through an era marked by sacrifice and resilience. Serving as a captain in aviation from 1942, his life has been a testament to courage and dedication.
Post-war, his profession remained inextricably linked to the skies - he worked at the Sokol plant. For his exceptional efforts, he was decorated with medals for Victory over Germany and Military Merit.
As Stepan Vasilyevich shares his memories, his window ledge blossoms with geraniums, marigolds, and petunias - his cherished flowers.
This heartwarming sight is a result of the Victory Flowerbed campaign, spearheaded by volunteers from Victories of Yesteryears.
Curious to bring a splash of color to your garden as well? Send in your application by April, and you could be part of the dozens who've already applied.
According to Natalia Tyutyaeva, coordinator of the Generations Link program at the Nizhny Novgorod branch of Victories of Yesteryears, late applicants can still apply. Simply give them a ring at 410-81-10.
The flower campaign will continue until May 12th, and every citizen of Nizhny Novgorod is invited to participate.
