City theatre resumes operations following summer hiatus
The City Theatre is ready to welcome audiences for another exciting season, as announced by its Director, Simone Sterr. The motto for this year is 'Tracks', signifying a journey filled with diverse theatre forms and unique experiences.
The season begins with a preview concert for the 1st Symphony Concert on Wednesday, September 3. Under the musical direction of General Music Director Andreas Schüller, the concert features works by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Richard Strauss, and Amy Beach.
On Thursday, September 4, the 1st Symphony Concert officially opens City Theatre's operations for the new season.
From Friday, September 5, the action moves outdoors onto the theatre square for special theatre experiences under the open sky. Admission for these outdoor events is free.
On Saturday, September 6, the Summer Stage hosts tea, Bulgarian songs, the city theatre's opera choir, and an Open Mic event. The following day, on Sunday, September 7, a big family festival around the house includes games, crafts, and surprises for the whole family, followed by "New Tracks 25/26: The Season Show" on the open-air Summer Stage.
The first premiere in the Great Hall of the new season is "Prince Friedrich of Homburg", produced by Anaïs Durand-Mauptit, on Saturday, September 13. The Small Hall will host the world premiere of "Gloria", produced by City Theatre Director Simone Sterr, on Saturday, September 20.
Information and tickets for the season can be found on the City Theatre's website. However, specific details of the "Prince Friedrich of Homburg" and "Gloria" productions are not provided.
The reopening of the Card House does not seem to be related to any specific event or performance mentioned earlier. It has reopened for business, effective immediately, with new hours: Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Attractive subscription discounts are available for many further offers. All performances up to and including October are already on sale. On-site staff at the theatre are available to provide advice.
For those who wish to stay updated, it's worth keeping an eye on the City Theatre's website for any new information about outdoor events or free admission that may be announced later.
