The largest fried glutinous rice cake (xôi chiên phồng) in Vietnam originates from Đồng Nai Province, where it first appeared and was sold by vendors in the 1950s. This dish consists of steamed glutinous rice and green beans that are deep-fried until forming a large, yellowish-brown ball that is crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. It is typically served as a snack or with roasted/grilled chicken.

Đồng Nai has actively popularized this dish, especially highlighted by recent commemorative events where the province hosted the making of the biggest xôi chiên phồng in Vietnam, reinforcing its cultural significance locally and nationally. The dish has grown in popularity throughout southern Vietnam, symbolizing local culinary heritage and becoming a staple street food item.

In addition to the celebration of the largest xôi chiên phồng, the festival themed "Đông Nai - Hương Sắc Hội Tụ Và Lan Tỏa" is a traditional cuisine festival to be held in Đông Nai Province on August 20. The event will take place at the Bửu Long Tourist Area in Trấn Biên Ward.

The festival aims to introduce the diversity and uniqueness of Đông Nai's cuisine to local and international tourists. It will include a cooking contest, a fruit arrangement contest, and an exchange with cuisine artisans and skilled chefs. The Bửu Long Tourist Area will be open to the public free of charge on the day of the event.

The festival is part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - 2025). To further commemorate these significant dates, a photo exhibition on the province's achievements in all fields will be launched at the province's square in Tân Triều Ward.

Two fireworks displays are scheduled for September 2, one at the province's square and another at Suối Cam Lake in Bình Phước Ward. Additionally, a music tour featuring songs praising the country, President Hồ Chí Minh, and the province will serve residents and tourists during national holidays.

The festival is a testament to the rich culinary heritage and pride of Đông Nai Province, showcasing not only the largest xôi chiên phồng but also the diversity and creativity of its local cuisine.
