Forchheim's Historic Town Hall to Open Doors on the Day of the Open Monument
The historic town hall in Forchheim, Germany, will be one of the many monuments opening its doors to the public on the Day of the Open Monument (Tag des offenen Denkmals®), scheduled for Sunday, September 14, 2025.
This nationwide cultural event, which is part of the European Heritage Days, has been organized by the German Foundation for Monument Protection (Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz) since 1993. The event aims to raise public awareness for monument preservation, opening thousands of historic sites, buildings, and landmarks across the country, often with special tours, talks, and events free of charge.
The Day of the Open Monument in Forchheim will offer guided tours through the town hall construction site, providing visitors with the opportunity to ask questions about the renovation's progress and the results of the archaeological excavations conducted by the responsible archaeological firm.
Participants are advised to wear sturdy footwear and to bring a filled-out declaration of liability for the tour. Helmets will be provided on site for safety. Registration for the guided tours is required and can be done via the adult education center (VHS) of the district of Forchheim.
The German Foundation for Monument Protection has supported the renovation of the town hall in Forchheim this year with a high five-figure amount, contributing to the preservation of this important historical site.
Visitors are encouraged to check the official tourism site of Forchheim or the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz website for updated localized programs and registration options closer to the event date.
Join us on the Day of the Open Monument to explore the historic town hall in Forchheim and learn more about the efforts being made to preserve this valuable piece of German heritage.
