Buc-ee's Expands Presence with New Store in Virginia

Buc-ee's, a well-known travel centre company based in Lake Jackson, Texas, has marked a significant milestone in its expansion journey by opening its first store in Virginia. Located at 6500 Buc-ee's Boulevard in Mount Crawford, the new store officially welcomed customers on June 30.

The grand opening was attended by notable figures including Buc-ee's CEO Arch "Beaver" Aplin III, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, Rockingham County Administrator Casey Armstrong, and others. The 70,000-square-foot-plus store, viewable from near mile marker 240 on Interstate 81, aims to attract as many people as possible off Interstate 81 to shop locally.

Randy Pauly, Buc-ee's pit master, revealed that the location was chosen because of the people running the store. Governor Youngkin mentioned that recruiting Buc-ee's was a statewide effort due to the location on Interstate 81, the workforce, and the business-friendly environment.

Buc-ee's, founded in 1982, currently operates 50 stores across multiple states, with 35 of them in Texas. The company's CEO has stated a commitment to providing exceptional experiences and services to travelers on Interstate 81. Buc-ee's is currently exploring other locations in Virginia for potential new stores.

In addition to Virginia, Buc-ee's has plans to open its first stores in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Ohio. However, as of mid-2025, the company has not publicly announced any confirmed expansion plans for Arizona or Ohio. The recent confirmed expansions are in states like Wisconsin, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Tennessee.
