New Crazy Games Attraction Opens in Mittelstendorf's Village Square

A new attraction has made its way to Mittelstendorf, a quaint village located south of Soltau, which until now, has lacked a central meeting point for its approximately 130 residents. On Tuesday evening, a new village square was officially inaugurated, complete with a unique marble game that connects the village to Soltau's 'Play City'.

The idea for the marble game was spearheaded by Mayor Wolfgang Erwin, who also led the campaign for the project. The funding for the village square was provided by the Leader funding for the High Heath region, amounting to around 22,000 euros. The total cost of the project was approximately 55,000 euros, which included paving work, shelter, benches, fence, and lighting.

The marble game, a special feature of the new village square, was created by a professional manufacturer in Germany. However, the exact name of the manufacturer, whether a specialized playground equipment company or a local designer, remains undisclosed.

Initial experiences suggest that small separations are necessary to prevent the glass balls from sliding onto neighbouring plots. Two sets of marbles, along with a sieve, fine sand, a broom, a dustpan, and access to the power and light system, are available for loan.

Groups can use the facility, but they are required to register in advance. Open play afternoons will be offered once a month at the village square with the marble track.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mayor Olaf Klang, Mayor Wolfgang Erwin, and Fire Chief Marc Grünhagen, along with many residents of Mittelstendorf. The creation of the village square was a result of cooperation between the village and the city.

The marble track in Mittelstendorf's new village square is expected to attract visitors not only from the village but also from Soltau, where special marble exhibitions at the play museum are popular. With this new addition, Mittelstendorf is set to become a more appealing destination, promoting village development and contributing to a welcoming culture.

Residents are encouraged to contact local representative Wolfgang Erwin ([email protected]) or fire chief Marc Grünhagen for more information on borrowing the marble equipment for play.
