On Saturday, 17th May, Düsseldorf's Town Hall Promenade at Burgplatz will transform into a bustling 'bike mile' from 11 am to 5 pm, as the city hosts its annual Bike Action Day. This event, with the motto "Discover - Test - Start Cycling," is a public gathering aimed at promoting cycling and showcasing its benefits.

The day promises a variety of activities, including rides or bike tours, information stands on safety and infrastructure, engagement with local politicians and activists, workshops or repair services, and speeches by advocates or city officials. A highlight is the Cargobike Roadshow, where twelve cargo bike models will be available for testing, accompanied by manufacturer-neutral expert advice.

Business owners can also benefit from this event, with a specialist lecture on integrating cargo bikes into daily operations, practical reports, and personal consultation on selecting suitable models. This is an opportunity for businesses to make their companies more sustainable and efficient.

Visitors can enjoy an artistic unicycle show by Bikerina, musical performances by Düsseldorf musician Julika and Leo Henrichs from Tierra Negra, and address traffic safety concerns with talks by the police and traffic safety authorities.

Environmental and public order offices will be present with information stands, offering insights into projects such as the bike routing, the "Testfeld Lastring" or the "Green Arrow Bike Traffic." A virtual reality headset will allow new bike stations to be discovered, and free services like an automatic bike wash, a professional bike check, bike coding by ADFC, numerous test opportunities, expert advice, and shows will be available.

Lutz Denken, Managing Director of the Crafts Association Düsseldorf, adds that the range of cargo bikes is diverse and convincing many sceptics. Gregor Berghausen, CEO of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Industry and Commerce, highlights the innovation potential of cargo bikes for urban logistics. Jochen Kral, Mobility and Environment Commissioner of the state capital Düsseldorf, emphasizes the importance of the bicycle in achieving climate neutrality by 2035.

Andreas Ehlert, President of the Chamber of Crafts Düsseldorf, explains the importance of supporting businesses on the path to using cargo bikes. He adds, "Cargo bikes save space and time in parking and play a significant role in reducing emissions and improving the quality of life in Düsseldorf."

For those interested in cycling, the event offers practical offers and information related to cycling, which can be found on Saturday. If you need exact details, we recommend checking official Düsseldorf city websites, cycling advocacy groups in Düsseldorf, or local event calendars for archived information around that date.
