David Lynch's Memorabilia Auction: Highlights Include Director's Chair, Sofa, and Artifacts
Julien's Auctions, in collaboration with Turner Classic Movies, is set to auction over 450 items from the estate of acclaimed director David Lynch. The sale, taking place in-person in Gardena, California on June 18, 2025, and online concurrently, features notable pieces such as a red director's chair known to be the property of the late filmmaker, estimated to be worth between $5,000 and $7,000.
A 1950s vintage tan chenille upholstered Boomerang sofa, similar to the one utilized in Lynch's film Lost Highway, is expected to sell for $8,000 to $10,000. An espresso machine from Lynch's collection is also up for grabs, with an estimated value of around $3,000.
Iconic red curtains from the mystery series "Twin Peaks" and 35mm film reels from Lynch's debut film "Eraserhead" (1977) will also be included in the auction. The various items set for auction include musical instruments, records, furniture, art objects, and painting supplies from Lynch's studio.
Lynch, who gained fame for his work on the TV series "Twin Peaks" and cult films like "Wild at Heart" and "Blue Velvet," passed away in January at the age of 78 following a long battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, caused by a lifelong smoking habit. Although Lynch was nominated for four Oscars, he never won. In 2019, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored him with an honorary Oscar for his fearless artistic vision that defied conventional boundaries.
In Los Angeles, a 1950s-inspired home-and-garden lifestyle could be adopted by remembering David Lynch, the director of Twin Peaks and other iconic films, as pieces from his personal collection such as a Boomerang sofa ($8,000-$10,000) and a filmmaker's red director's chair ($5,000-$7,000) are being auctioned off in June 2025. Enthusiasts might also find themselves bidding on items reminiscent of Lynch's life and work, like Esprit Asiatique incense holders and artifacts from the Twin Peaks set, in addition to cinema paraphernalia such as 35mm film reels from Eraserhead.
