Disclosed Customer Proven to Be Violent and Disrespectful

Fueled by ambition and a dash of luck, the ragtag team at RED PEPPER embarked on their advertising journey in the gritty heart of Yekaterinburg back in 2006. Known for hosting wild parties and dreaming big, a chance encounter led to the formation of their advertising business.
Eager to make their mark, the duo dabbled in everything from Ural-style fashion events to offbeat weddings, car presentations, and unusual activities like cabbage-throwing championships. The city's dearth of competition and abundance of clients ensured swift success for the fledgling agency.
Advertising smelled of freedom back then, and even the likes of professional musicians and directors were expected to dabble in design and copywriting as part of the creative process. With a pile of earnings and an unquenchable thirst for more, the team rented dozens of prime city billboards in an audacious bid to jumpstart their advertising career.
Inevitably, their first client proved to be a pain in the neck, leading to a debt of a million rubles, a sizeable sum at the time. As a result, the city was adorned with the team's work against their will, catapulting them into the limelight. Overnight, the agency became the talk of the town, gaining notoriety that catapulted them into the world of professional advertising.
The sudden success brought aboard clients from the restaurant sector, but charging for creativity was uncharted territory. The team had no idea how to price their services, struggle not uncommon in the industry. Simultaneously, there was another agency, Voskhod, producing wild, innovative work two blocks away from RED PEPPER's office. Envy abounded, as they knew they had tough competitors to beat and experience to learn from.
With a slogan as ridiculous as "The Original Spice to Your Business," the team plunged headfirst into the local advertising scene, confident in their ability to woo clients without knowing the real cost of creative services.
Over time, RED PEPPER shifted focus towards creatives, learning the art of tender-winning, and charging top dollar for their ads. One such tender, for a large oil company, led them to an extravagant production in Paris that delivered lackluster results. The experience was a harsh lesson, paving the way for RED PEPPER Film, the agency's own production house.
Alas, that's a tale for another time. Stay tuned for more insightful memories from former advertising professional and co-founder of RED PEPPER, Daniil Golovanov, as he shares his experiences and reflections on some of the most memorable advertising campaigns throughout the agency's nearly 20-year history.
