Empowering Cycling Program Welcomes Female Participants Regardless of Nationality
In the city of Nordhorn, an inspiring initiative has been making waves. The Equal Opportunities Office, in collaboration with SV Vorwärts Nordhorn, organised a women's bicycle course with the primary goal of promoting mobility. Anja Milewski, the city's equal opportunities officer, spearheaded this venture.
The course, led by certified cycling instructor Maria Ramos Cavada, was held over nine consecutive days for the first time. Cavada, a member of the ADFC, follows the "moveo ergo sum" method of the Cycling Instructors' Association.
The participants, totalling 12, were prepared for their cycling journey with light exercises and were equipped with training equipment and special scooters. By the end of the course, all participants felt confident enough on their bikes to participate in a joint bicycle tour.
This joint tour covered ten kilometers through the city area and all the way to the Dutch border. The successful completion of the course and tour has filled the participants and Milewski with enthusiasm for future collaborations.
They plan to make more contacts in the context of this year's "Stadtradeln" action, inviting all interested parties to a joint "Tour for Women from All Over the World" on June 13. Further information will follow.
The success of this women's bicycle course in Nordhorn is a testament to the power of empowerment through physical activities. It not only encourages an active lifestyle but also fosters a sense of community and camaraderie among its participants.
