Hey there! buckle up as we delve into the glamorous first garden party of the year, held at the iconic Buckingham Palace on May 7th. Hosted by King Charles III (76) and his radiant Queen Camilla (77), the event was graced by other senior members of the royal family.

King Charles, in true garden party fashion, sported a stylish gray cutaway suit paired with a sleek black top hat, adhering to the dress code that also requires men to rock tailored suits. In contrast, women are expected to don elegant dresses, often accessorized with chic hats or fascinators. Traditional national dress and uniforms also make an appearance.

Queen Camilla, as reported by "People", was a vision in a dark teal Christian Dior ensemble, complementing King Charles' light blue waistcoat and pocket square. Their coordinated outfits were accompanied by Princess Anne (74), Prince Edward (61), Duchess Sophie (60), and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

The garden party tradition can be traced back to the 1860s and serves as a fantastic opportunity for the reigning monarch to honor outstanding members of the community, showing gratitude for their dedication and recognizing public service. Around 30,000 people get the chance to attend these grand soirees each year.

Doors open for guests at 3 pm local time, with the official start kicking off an hour later as the royal family makes their grand entrance, accompanied by the stirring strains of the national anthem played by a military band. Guests are then treated to scrumptious cake and tea, given the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful palace gardens, or engage in captivating conversations with a member of the royal family.

More Garden Parties to Steal the Show

Following the initial garden party on May 7th at Buckingham Palace in the heart of London, the lineup includes two more events this summer. On May 20th, the same location will sparkle once again, and on July 1st, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, will host a royal garden party.

Apart from the three traditional garden parties, two themed garden parties have also been announced. On May 14th, the "Education and Skills" garden party will take place at Buckingham Palace to pay tribute to those dedicated to the educational sector. Hosted by the Department for Education, the event will gather 7,000 guests from the industry.

Two days later, on May 16th, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester (78) will oversee the annual garden party of the Not Forgotten Association at the palace. This organization is committed to providing entertainment, leisure, and recreational activities for retired and serving military personnel.
