Entering a new era of dance education: Palucca School turns thirty - EU Advances in Progressing Technological Innovation
Palucca School of Dance Marks Thirty Years of Support for the Next Generation
In Dresden, the Palucca Association, a supporter of the internationally acclaimed Palucca School of Dance, is currently attracting attention. Established by dance enthusiasts in 1995, the association has grown to exceed 100 members, including numerous graduates of the school.
As per Christina Flume, the chair of the association, its goal has been and continues to be the ideological and material support of students and future generations of dancers. Recognizing the importance of dance education, the association aims to accompany young artists on their path to a successful career, providing them with a strong foundation.
Gret Palucca, with her unique approach to dance, would likely have endorsed the association's objectives. Known as a legend in her lifetime, Palucca founded her school a century ago. Today, Germany's sole independent dance academy bears her name. Palucca is noted for fostering equal training in contemporary, classical, and improvisational dance, aiming to eliminate the boundaries between these disciplines to foster innovation.
The association mirrors Palucca's artistic philosophy, focusing on expression, individuality, and passion for dance. By supporting student projects and shoulderings training expenses such as dancewear and shoes, the association significantly contributes to the students' development.
One of the association's notable projects is the "Pointe Shoe Sponsorship." This initiative allows each student to receive two pairs of pointe shoes annually. According to Katharina Christl, rector of the school, every donation serves as a helping hand for dance as an art form and the future of young talent on German stages.
The association welcomes everyone to join its growing community of supporters in celebration of its 30th anniversary. Membership can be secured for 60 euros per year, with reductions available for retirees and students. By becoming a member, individuals can contribute to the growth and success of aspiring dancers.
