Expanded Outline: 99 Ranch Market Unveils Plans for East Coast Expansion
99 Ranch Market Expands Presence on East Coast and West Coast
99 Ranch Market, the largest Asian supermarket chain on the West Coast, is expanding its footprint across the United States. The company recently opened a new flagship store in the heart of Queens, New York, marking its first entry into the city and the East Coast.
Located in the vibrant Flushing neighborhood, the new store spans 37,000 square feet across two levels, making it one of 99 Ranch Market's largest stores. The ground floor features a 22,000-square-foot market, while the basement houses a 15,000-square-foot food court with 23 unique Asian eateries.
The store design emphasizes elevated design, comfort, and a curated experience tailored to the diverse and dynamic neighborhood of Flushing. Services like live seafood steaming, in-store fish frying, and a wide selection of over 10,000 curated products are available at the Flushing store.
Beyond New York, 99 Ranch Market continues to grow. In Las Vegas, the company is developing a roughly 50,000-square-foot store in Boca Park, expected to open around August 2025. The Pacific Northwest, including Oregon and Washington State, is another region where 99 Ranch Market is expanding. Portland is set to get a new 99 Ranch, marking the chain’s second Oregon location since 2017.
The company operates more than 60 stores across 11 states, with a focus on the West Coast and increasing presence in other parts of the U.S. 99 Ranch Market's expansion strategy appears to prioritize building presence first in key diverse Asian population centers, especially where it can create large-format stores integrating food halls and specialty services.
In addition to physical store expansions, 99 Ranch Market is also exploring new ways to expand its e-commerce business. Meanwhile, T&T Supermarkets, another Asian supermarket chain, is planning to open its 6th U.S. store in Chino Hills, California.
The New York metro area is seen as an opportunity for growth due to the growing demand for authentic Asian groceries and prepared foods. Despite competition from H Mart and other Asian supermarkets, as well as mainstream grocery stores, 99 Ranch Market has not publicly discussed specific strategies for dealing with competition.
In recognition of its business acumen, 99 Ranch Market was recently named one of the Best-Managed Companies by Schnucks. The company's growth and success are a testament to its commitment to serving the Asian American community and providing a unique shopping experience.
