Expedited timeline for strengthening animal well-being regulations set in motion
The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has announced changes to the deadlines of the Federal Program for the Modernization of Animal Husbandry in Germany. According to the guidelines set out in 12.9, the program is undergoing modifications.
Under the updated program, farmers have until April 30, 2026, to apply for investment funding. Subscription to a new newsletter service, delivered every workday, will provide top daily topics related to the program. This newsletter will be sent until unsubscription, and subscribing acknowledges the privacy policy.
Supported farmers must submit the proof of use by December 31, 2028. The decision on the investment will be made by December 31, 2026, and the project duration may not exceed 24 months after the funding decision.
A 60% grant is provided for investment volumes up to €500,000. However, it's important to note that the program does not provide funding for animal welfare modernization. Additional costs are only eligible for funding until 2027.
Unsubscription can be done at any time via a link in the newsletter. For more information or to subscribe, farmers are encouraged to visit the BMEL's official website.
