Explore Finn Mungovan's Living Quarters: Class of '27 Showcase
In the heart of the bustling college campus, one dorm room stands out from the rest. Finn Mungovan '26, a staff writer, has transformed his spacious room - originally intended for a Resident Assistant - into a haven filled with memorabilia reflecting his diverse interests.
Mungovan's room is a vibrant blend of his passions, adorned with posters from his favourite bands and films, such as My Bloody Valentine, The Beatles, and David Lynch's Blue Velvet. His love for literature is evident with books by Cormac McCarthy and Emil Cioran lining the shelves.
Apart from his decor, Mungovan is particularly proud of his GAF ST-500 camera, which he uses to film concerts. Two guitars and two film cameras add to the creative atmosphere of his room, creating an environment that inspires him and makes him feel at home while he's away at school.
Much of Mungovan's day is spent outside the dorm, but he considers it an important place for solitude and relaxation. The room, which includes a bathroom, closet, and a common area converted into his bedroom, serves as a sanctuary where he can unwind.
Meanwhile, another student, Thomas Gangemi IV '26, shares a different yet equally unique space. Gangemi, a staff writer majoring in Political Science and Architectural Studies, is a fan of New Order and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down by Joan Baez. His room is filled with reminders of his hometown, Mendham, NJ, and his favourite movie, Dr. Strangelove.
Gangemi is also involved in the Society of Saints Peter and Paul on campus, and he attended a recent talk titled "The Philosophy of Fly Fishing" by Fr. William Stempsey, SJ of the Philosophy Department. The talk was held on the 8th of November as part of Theology by the Slice, a weekly event hosted by the Society.
Recent news on campus includes a spike in flu cases, prompting an email from Health Services regarding preparation for the flu season. As students continue to navigate their academic and personal lives, their unique spaces serve as a testament to their individuality and passions within the shared college environment.
