Financing Tree Plantation Projects

Neuss, Germany. Ina Scharrenbach, the Minister for Home, Local Government, Construction, and Digitalization of North Rhine-Westphalia, attended a significant event on Wednesday (15.01.25) in Neuss. She crossed the Rhine to visit the construction site of the future Bürgerpark and Landesgartenschau in Hammfeld I, which is being developed on the former racetrack. The Minister presented a funding decision of €3,505,000 to Mayor Reiner Breuer to support the project's progress.

In a symbolic move, Minister Scharrenbach and Mayor Breuer together planted a tree—one of the 2,200 trees planned for the park that aims to become a verdant oasis in the city. The Minister also took on a sponsorship for a tree, adding to the over 250 heart-sponsored trees provided by the association Grünes Herz Neuss e.V. According to Sandra Breuer, responsible for the tree sponsorships, this encourages a connection between the people of Neuss, their home, nature, and the park.

The early bird season ticket sale for the Landesgartenschau Neuss 2026 is still ongoing until 31.01.25. Adult tickets, priced at 80 euros, can be purchased at a discounted rate, while reduced tickets are available at 60 euros. Annette Nothnagel, Jan Sommer, and Christoph Höltgers, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Mobility of the city of Neuss, are tasked with preparing and implementing the Landesgartenschau from 16.04.26 to 11.10.26. In collaboration with the city of Neuss and the "Grünes Herz - Bürgerpark Neuss e.V." association, they are creating a space for relaxation, sports, and community on the former racetrack. Large-scale events such as the Landesgartenschau are known for transforming underused or industrial land into green spaces, featuring gardens, exhibitions, and cultural programs. Planning and construction for such projects typically start years in advance, followed by the actual event about 1–2 years later. Further details on the Hammfeld I site's construction, including a precise start date, milestones, and specific design details, are not yet available. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, it is recommended to consult the official website of the city of Neuss or the Landesgartenschau Neuss 2026 organizing committee once it is available or press releases from local government sources.
