Artistic Graduates Showcase Skills One Last Time

As the beautiful season arrives, graduates of artistic disciplines schools prepare for their leap into the professional world. However, before that, they have one last opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of their craft alongside their fellow graduates. This is the case for the 22 students of the École nationale du cirque, who will present their final show, L'antre d'eux, under the direction of Nicolas Boivin-Gravel, from now until June 8 at the Tohu. The show promises to delight fans of various circus disciplines and offers low-priced tickets.

Similarly, students from the École supérieure de ballet du Québec may experience a similar sense of exhilaration as they prepare to present their end-of-year show, Corps de ballet 2025, under the artistic direction of Anik Bissonnette. The performance will feature a mix of classical repertoire and contemporary creation and will be presented in the Salle Pierre-Mercure on Friday and Saturday.

Science Festival Invites Curiosity and Discovery

Jean-Doré Park will be invaded by young science enthusiasts and their parents until Sunday for the Eureka! Festival. This free event encourages creativity and discovery, offering workshops, shows, and conferences that cover various scientific disciplines, including physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering. The program also makes room for the arts, with offerings in music, dance, slam, and drawing. In the event of rain, which is likely, the Biosphere will serve as a refuge, hosting several exhibitions that appeal to festival-goers.

Summer of Gardens Kicks Off

The Jardins Gamelin, a site of multiple activities and shows, officially opened on Thursday evening with a performance by Pierre Kwenders, Shah Frank, and DJ BlackGold. Activities returning this year include Monday karaoke, Tuesday cinema, and Saturday evening salsa initiation, as well as family animations on Sunday afternoons during school holidays. Notable performances include those by emerging artists Sheenah Ko, Franz Lin, and Fryore on Friday and the 30th edition of the Accès Asie festival's closing dance party on Saturday. The Frequence Collective series will kick off on Sunday, featuring the Or Cadre gang. All events are free.

Art Under the Open Sky

The 3rd edition of Escale will transform the outdoor stairs of Quebec's old neighborhoods into exhibitions of original works from June 3. Visitors can play Un jeu d'enfant on the long Governor's Promenade, admire Les cheminées endormies in the Frontenac staircase, and read the pedestrian poem formed by Marche du monde, marches de Québec in the Chapelle staircase. Additionally, strollers of Old Quebec can search for the 45 small sculptures of the Cement Eclipses series by Spanish artist Isaac Cordal, which are integrated into the urban decor of the neighborhood.

The government announced a series of free events for the public this summer, including workshops, shows, and conferences on various scientific disciplines at the Eureka! Festival.
