In the heart of Viersen, the annual Carnival celebrations took a memorable turn this year, with the Society of Recreation taking centre stage. As the oldest carnival club in the city, founded by Viersen citizens in 1877, the Society of Recreation has been an active and integral part of the community for 148 years.

The Society of Recreation, led by a managing board, showcased its creative flair during this year's Carnival, as evidenced by its participation. The "Herzblut" friends' circle, under their "Blumenwiese" theme, secured the second place, earning €333.33.

The competition was fierce, with three winners named in total. The "Kecken Jecken" friends' circle emerged victorious with their theme "Mermaid & Co.", taking home the first prize of €555.55. The foot group of the KG Fideles Kränzchen also made their mark, winning third place and receiving €111.11 for their entry.

Carnival Sunday was a vibrant display of creativity and passion from all participants. The Carnival Commissioner, Lothar Beeck, emphasized that every participant deserved a prize, reflecting the spirit of camaraderie and inclusivity that permeated the event.

A photo of the Society of Recreation is available, capturing the essence of the club's long-standing tradition and its continued commitment to Viersen's Carnival celebrations. The society's treasurer, Uli Mangold, and secretary, Thomas Hulsmann, along with chairman Bernd Korischem, can be seen leading the charge.

As we look forward to next year's Carnival, the spirit of competition, creativity, and camaraderie will undoubtedly continue to thrive in Viersen, with the Society of Recreation at the forefront. The exact winners and themes for next year's competition are yet to be announced, but one thing is certain: Viersen's Carnival will continue to be a much-anticipated event in the city's calendar.

The Society of Recreation, in its ongoing dedication to Viersen's community, showcased a unique blend of tradition and contemporary flair in their home-and-garden inspired "Blumenwiese" display during the annual Carnival. As evident by their impressive second place win, they are a testament to the variety and ingenuity that the other participants bring to the table in the home-and-garden lifestyle category of the competition.
