Hanau's New Recycling Island Boosts Cleanliness, 24/7 Convenience

Hanau has launched a new waste disposal initiative, the Recycling Island, to boost cleanliness and responsible waste handling. The project, part of the 'JuchHU clean - For a nicer Hanau' campaign, was inaugurated by Councilwoman Isabelle Hemsley in Daimlerstraße. It's open 24/7, offering a citizen-friendly solution to reduce illegal dumping and dependence on recycling center hours.

Last year, Hanauer Infrastructure Service (HIS) collected 180 tons of illegally dumped waste. The Recycling Island aims to cut this figure by providing a convenient, barrier-free drop-off point for various items. Accepted materials include small electrical appliances, clothing, shoes, batteries, CDs, and DVDs. The island is the city's first Recycling Island and a pilot project, located directly in front of the old recycling center.
