Retired Pastor Hartmut Wild Honoured for His Work on Michelbach's History

In a heartfelt ceremony, retired pastor Hartmut Wild was recognised for his significant contributions to the history and culture of the rural district of Michelbach. The Historic City Seal of the University Town of Marburg was presented to him by Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies, in acknowledgement of his diverse commitment to preserving village life and the stories of its people.

Over the years, Wild has immersed himself in research, delving into various archives and libraries, including the parish archive in Michelbach, the Free Institute for Building Research, the Hessian State Archive, and the Murhardt Library in Kassel. His work has served as a lasting source of information for science, associations, and the inhabitants of Michelbach, providing a comprehensive and vivid account of the district's 1200-year history.

Wild's research, which took nearly four years and involved deciphering original manuscripts, reading dialects, and reviewing documents, has made the history of Michelbach accessible to a wide audience. His published works, such as "Michelbach - A Marburg district tells its 1200-year history" and "High Dignitaries in Michelbach" (which includes the parsonage perspectives), are part of the Marburg City Scripts and are unparalleled treasures of the history of the Marburg district.

Wild's commitment and passion in documenting the history of the Michelbach district is noteworthy. He expressed his gratitude to Mayor Spies, the city council, Michelbach's local representative Peter Aab, and his supporters on the chronicle team, including Julia Wackerbarth, Birgit Goetz, Pastor Barbara Grenz, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Ritzerfeld, the late Michelbach chronicler Karl Heinz Koch, Dr. Ulrich Ehrbeck, and August Heldmann (who have passed away).

The works of Hartmut Wild bring historical knowledge together and make the district community alive. The residents of Michelbach now know more about their old village due to his research, and his works serve as a testament to the rich history and culture of the district. The Historic City Seal bestowed upon him is a fitting tribute to his tireless efforts and dedication to preserving the stories and heritage of Michelbach.
