Housing initiative: Launch of initial phase focusing on boosting new housing construction

The city of Langenfeld is set to host its first Housing Exchange Bourse on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the town hall canteen located at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz 1. The event, organised by the Department of Social Affairs, Law, and Order, aims to provide a platform for exchange ideas and potential housing solutions for those whose current living situation no longer fits their needs.

Christian Benzrath, a local resident, encourages active participation in the Bourse, stating that it is a chance to adapt one's living space to one's life situation and meet fellow human beings who also strive for change. The event is open to all interested Langenfeld residents.

The evening will begin with an introductory lecture by Langenfeld notary Christoph Stiefel on "Sales models for real estate in old age". After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to have a drink and fill out an information card about your own needs. The city will provide information on what to consider in exchange projects.

Interested parties will be matched after their cards have been evaluated by the city. If a match is found, the interested parties will negotiate the exchange themselves. The Bourse is intended to be a first contact forum for interested Langenfeld residents whose personal living situation no longer fits their current housing.

The Bourse is being organized to address the issue of finding suitable housing solutions for residents whose life stage or family situation has changed. It is intended to connect older, single persons or couples whose children have moved out with families with children looking for a house with a garden or a larger apartment. The Bourse also aims to connect seniors who can imagine a gradual handover of their house with families whose needs will increase in a few years.

Holger Hammer, head of the Social Affairs department, explains that this Bourse is a small building block and a first step to build networks. He encourages residents to seize this opportunity to connect with each other and find solutions that work for everyone.

Registration for the Langenfeld Apartment Exchange Bourse is required via email at tauschen@unsere Webseite or by phone at 02173 794 2100. The city is interested in hearing feedback about the outcome of the negotiations.

Join us on September 25, 2025, for a unique opportunity to find a new home and connect with your fellow Langenfeld residents.
