"In Hollywood, the Los Angeles city unveils the UKA signature restaurant, a new eatery on their roster"

The culinary world is abuzz with the upcoming opening of UKA, a renowned Michelin-starred kaiseki restaurant, at JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles. Slated to open on June 8th, UKA promises a unique haute culinary experience rooted in traditional Japanese kaiseki dining.

Located at 6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028, UKA will occupy the restaurant space within JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles. The restaurant's new location, previously home to various restaurant pop-ups since 2018, occupies two floors at Ovation Hollywood.

Chefs Yoshitaka Mitsue and Shingo Kato, both with extensive experience in Japanese restaurants from Japan to France and beyond, will helm UKA. Their expertise is evident in the restaurant's exquisite approach to preparing premium fresh seafood and the refined omakase menu that seeks to capture a particular essence of time, place, and the best of Japanese cuisine.

UKA's menu offers a nine-course prix fixe with signature dishes such as a palate cleansing Dashi for the Five Senses, a Savory Egg Custard, Grilled Beef dish, house made Hojicha cheesecake and ice cream, and more. An accompanying wine and sake pairing will be carefully curated by the restaurant's wine and sake sommeliers.

What sets UKA apart in its kaiseki haute culinary tradition is its combination of meticulous multi-course tasting menus, an exclusive, intimate dining experience, and the use of locally sourced and exceptional ingredients. Guests will be guided through the story and inspiration behind each dish, emphasizing an intentional progression of flavors.

In keeping with the kaiseki tradition, UKA's tableware will include Shigaraki ware and Echizen lacquerware, which evoke the tradition through careful attention to detail, material, and pottery style. The 1,187 square foot space is designed by Ryu Kosaka, featuring soft gray hues, warm wood tones, lantern-inspired lighting, bonsai tree and bamboo accents, and large windows with views from Hollywood to Downtown Los Angeles.

UKA's name was inspired by "Ukanomitama-no-Kami," the god of grain and fertility, who has been worshipped in Japan since ancient times. The restaurant's new space features an intimate dining room and Chef's counter accommodating up to 30 guests per seating.

JAPAN HOUSE Los Angeles offers a place of new discovery that transcends physical and conceptual boundaries, creating experiences that reflect the best of Japan through its spaces and diverse programs.
