Increased Bicyclists, Extended Cycling Distances, and Reinforced Dedication in City Cycling by 2025!
In the heart of Bavaria, the district of Fürth has once again made a significant impact in the annual Bike to Work campaign. This year, the event saw a remarkable increase in participation and distance covered, demonstrating a strong commitment to climate protection among its residents.
The 2025 campaign welcomed 2,372 active cyclists from 123 teams in 13 municipalities, marking a 50 percent increase in participants compared to the previous year. The number of teams also grew by around 12 percent, with the Velogruppe Großhabersdorf leading the pack, having cycled a total of 30,618 kilometers.
The most active municipality was Oberasbach, with a staggering 67,917 kilometers cycled. Notably, Hans Stockert from Obermichelbach covered an impressive 2,211 kilometers, more than twice the distance from Obermichelbach to Berlin and back. The 'Obermichelbach Express' team, with its members collectively cycling 1,747 kilometers per person, held the title for the highest kilometers per capita.
The Gymnasium Stein took the top spot in the 2025 School Bike to Work campaign, with 194 students collectively cycling 27,756 kilometers. This year's school campaign underscored a commitment to climate protection among the district's young people.
The winning team in the Bike to Work 2025, 'Team Green Pedals,' hailed from the district and expressed delight with their victory and the sense of community that the campaign fosters. Since its inception in 2012, the district of Fürth has seen a continuous positive development in the Bike to Work campaign, with the number of participants steadily growing over the years.
