International Music Orchestra of Park University's Center for Music Set to Showcase Holiday Performance
The Park University International Center for Music is set to bring holiday cheer with its annual concert, titled "An Intimate Christmas with the ICM." Unlike the free holiday concert, admission for this event will require tickets.
The concert will take place on Friday, Jan. 24, starting at 7:30 p.m., in the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan. This venue is a change from the holiday concert, which traditionally takes place at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel on the University's flagship Parkville Campus.
Steven McDonald, D.M.A., ICM director of orchestral activities and associate professor of music, will direct the orchestra. The Park Trio, the ICM's esteemed resident ensemble, will also be part of the performance. The trio, featuring Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich on piano, Ben Sayevich on violin, and Daniel Veis on cello, will undoubtedly add a touch of elegance to the evening.
In addition to the Park Trio, the concert will feature a guest soprano soloist, Payton Boldt, a graduate student pursuing a master's degree in vocal performance at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. Ben Lerman, a senior majoring in music performance/violin, will conduct "The Skaters Waltz."
The program for this concert is not yet detailed, but it promises a blend of Christmas favourites and hidden gems. Among the selections will be "Overture" and "Rejoice Greatly" from Messiah, "Fantasia" on 'Greensleeves,' "Maria Wiegenlied" ("Mary's Lullaby"), "O Holy Night," "German Dance No. 3, K. 605" ("Sleigh Ride"), Interlude from "Ceremony of Carols," "The Skaters Waltz," and "Radetzky March."
