Leipzig's Ibug Street Art Festival Returns, Transforming Industrial Site

Leipzig is set to host its first Ibug Street Art Festival, starting on August 18. The event, which has drawn around 15,000 visitors in previous years, will be open for viewing over three weekends, transforming the former Reichsbahnausbesserungswerk (RAW) site in the Engelsdorf district.

The Ibug concept, which originated in South Saxony, has evolved over time to revitalize industrial wastelands. This year, over 800 artists applied to participate, with 80 selected from around the world. Among them is Tasso, a graffiti artist from Meerane who was instrumental in founding the festival in 2006. Artists at the Ibug festival enjoy complete freedom in their work, with no restrictions on walls or themes. The festival runs from August 18-20, 25-27, and September 1-3.

The Ibug Street Art Festival brings together artists from around the globe to transform the former RAW site in Leipzig. With a record number of applicants and a rich history of revitalizing industrial spaces, this year's festival promises to be a vibrant and inspiring event for both artists and visitors alike.
