Luxury helicopter once used by Queen Elizabeth II up for sale, priced at an eye-watering multi-million dollar figure
Royal Vehicles Up for Sale: King Charles's Customized Range Rover and Helicopter
In an unprecedented move, King Charles III is selling two of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II's vehicles – a customized Range Rover and a helicopter.
The interior of the helicopter, which was part of Queen Elizabeth II's fleet from 2009 until her death in 2022, has been revealed for the first time. The helicopter, described as a "Head of State Aircraft" with "one owner since new" when listed for sale by Aero Asset, has flown a total of 5,222 hours.
While there is no publicly available record of Queen Elizabeth II owning or selling a luxury Sikorsky helicopter, the vehicle is expected to fetch at least £5million. However, specific details about the helicopter's sale, including its specifications or estimated price, are not available.
The Range Rover, which has modifications including side steps, rear grab handles, and a dog guard for the corgis, is expected to fetch up to £70,000 at Iconic Auctioneers, Ashorne, Warks. The vehicle, which has done just under 120,000 miles, was used by Queen Elizabeth II between 2006 and 2008, and later by King Charles between 2006 and 2008.
The interior of the Range Rover features comfy grey leather and suede seats, a royal blue carpet, tinted windows, magazine racks, a cordless phone, and a wooden clock.
It's worth noting that the helicopter is being replaced with two £8.5million eco-friendly Leonardo choppers. The sale of these vehicles marks a significant change in the Royal Household's transport methods.
While the sale of these royal vehicles is generating much interest, it's a reminder of the legacy left by Queen Elizabeth II, who was known for her dedication and service to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
Both the helicopter and the Range Rover are currently on sale. Interested parties can contact the respective auction houses or dealerships for more information.
