Mobile Application for Accurate Weather Forecasts

In the comfort of your living room, you can now transform the space into a vibrant and educational corner for your little ones with a weather mobile collection. This DIY project, featuring cloud, rainbow, and sun designs, is not only fun but also helps children develop fine motor skills and learn about weather concepts in a creative way.

To begin, create the shapes for each weather element. You can cut out simple clouds, rainbows, and suns from cardstock, construction paper, or foam sheets. For instance, clouds can be fluffy white shapes, rainbows multicoloured arcs, and suns bright yellow circles with rays.

Next, it's time to decorate. Use markers, crayons, glitter, or cotton balls to add texture and colour to the clouds. The rainbow mobile, for example, can be made more stable by cutting out the rainbow, gluing cereal box cardboard to the back, and adding silver thread for hanging. The sun mobile was made using three different colours of construction paper.

Attaching strings comes next. Use threads or yarn to tie each weather shape, ensuring the lengths vary to add visual interest.

For the frame, use a wooden dowel, a branch, or an embroidery hoop as the base from which to suspend the weather elements. Tie the strings to the frame spaced evenly. Once all the elements are attached, tie the frame strings in the center at the top to hang the mobile.

The hand shapes mobile, made using a paper plate, was made by attaching hand shapes around the edge of a glued plate. A loop of silver thread was used for hanging. The cloud mobile, previously made as part of a week featuring the colour white, was also added to the collection.

When the glue was dry, a loop of silver thread was attached to the back of the plate for the hand shapes mobile. The rainbow mobile was made by spreading glue onto the outer arch and attaching ripped tissue paper.

Now, with all three mobiles hanging around the living room fireplace, the room brightens up, making learning about the weather a delightful experience for your children.

This hands-on craft is suitable for preschool and kindergarten kids, and can be integrated with educational activities like printable weather tracing worksheets featuring matching pictures.
