Greifswald Citizens' Forum to Discuss Municipal Heat Planning
On Monday, September 15, 2025, at 6:30 PM, the city of Greifswald invites its citizens to a significant event in the Citizens' Hall of the Town Hall. This event, titled the Greifswald Citizens' Forum, will focus on the municipal heat planning process.
The highlight of the evening will be a live poll, offering citizens an opportunity to have their voices heard. This interactive session will allow the population's perspective to directly influence further planning. The live poll will cover various aspects of the municipal heat planning, such as costs, technology, and supply security.
Citizens can provide feedback, ask questions, and express their opinions during the live poll. The live poll is also a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and share their thoughts on the topic.
Approximately 70% of the apartments in Greifswald are currently supplied with district heating. However, the live poll will also address the future options for heating apartments without a network connection. The discussion will focus on alternative solutions beyond district heating, such as decentralized heating technologies like innovative combined heat and power generation (like iKWK systems), heat pumps, and biomass solutions tailored for non-network areas.
Initial evaluations suggest potentials for renewable heat generation in districts without a network connection. The live poll will provide answers to questions about where these decentralized generators could be used.
The Greifswald Citizens' Forum is an essential part of the municipal heat planning process. Its purpose is to present the current results of the planning, focusing on the current heat supply and possible future supply routes. The commissioned planning office, Theta Concepts GmbH from Rostock, will present the central findings.
The live poll at the forum is a tool for gathering citizen input on the municipal heat planning process. By participating, citizens can help shape the future of heating in Greifswald. No registration is required to participate in the live poll at the forum, making it accessible to all.
The Greifswald Citizens' Forum aims to foster an open and engaging dialogue between the city and its residents. It offers a unique opportunity for citizens to influence the direction of further planning in the municipal heat planning process. So, mark your calendars for Monday, September 15, 2025, and join the conversation!
