New Memorial Plaque Unveiled at Loveparade Disaster Site
A new memorial day plaque has been unveiled at the Loveparade disaster site in Duisburg. Artist Marco Morosin crafted the plaque using Jura limestone and personally installed it on May 7th, following the previous one's vandalism.
The memorial day plaque was created by Oliver Plischek and took Morosin around 13 hours to complete. He meticulously carved the lettering into the stone using a chisel, then painted the letters with a special dark gray color to enhance visibility.
The plaque's creation came after the original was destroyed in a vandalism incident on May 6th. Morosin, a local artist and stonemason, offered his services to replace the lost memorial. Nicole Ballhause, a Loveparade disaster survivor, expressed gratitude on behalf of the victims and survivors for Morosin's efforts.
The new memorial day plaque stands as a poignant reminder of the Loveparade disaster. Marco Morosin's dedication and craftsmanship have ensured that the victims and survivors are not forgotten.
