The Yakutsk City Administration and NVK "Sakha" are organising a city-wide photo contest called "Yakutsk Inspires" to commemorate the 392nd anniversary of Yakutsk's founding. The contest aims to promote a positive image of Yakutsk, propagate its historical and cultural heritage, and reflect the social and cultural life of the city through photography.
Residents aged 14 and above in Yakutsk are invited to participate in the contest. Participants can submit their works in five different categories: "Historical Yakutsk", "City Life", "People of the City", "Cityscapes", and "Creative Photo Series".
In the "Historical Yakutsk" category, participants can submit historical photographs, archival photos of the city's environment and residents in the 19th and 20th centuries. The "Cityscapes" category encourages submissions of landmarks (architectural monuments), recognizable locations, and favourite places of residents. In the "City Life" category, participants can submit mass events, scenes from the daily life of citizens, and genre photographs. The "People of the City" category allows for individual and group photographs (portraits) of Yakutsk residents. In the "Creative Photo Series" category, participants can submit a series of 5-10 photographs united by the common theme "My Yakutsk" with an original and creative approach to photography.
The best works from the "Yakutsk Inspires" photo contest will be published on various websites and mass media, including the "Yakutia 24" information portal (yk24.ru) and other media outlets. Participants will receive certificates regardless of their winning status, and the authors of the best works will receive diplomas and valuable prizes.
