"Public Art Showcase in Bremen: Mohar Kalra's creation, "Bremensch", now on display at Tiefer"
The city of Bremen is set to witness an intriguing environmental intervention this September, as American artist Mohar Kalra unveils his temporary art installation, "Breman/Bremensch", along the Weserpromenade. This remarkable installation will be on display from September 7 to 29 at Tiefer (Anleger Tiefer 2).
"Breman/Bremensch" is a floating sculpture designed to mirror the city of Bremen, emerging from the water and facing its future. The artwork, created by Kalra, is said to reflect both the past and the future of the city, serving as a symbolic representation of its fluid identity.
Kalra views his installation as a mirror for the city and its inhabitants, inviting them to see themselves in "Breman/Bremensch" and reflect on their unique perspectives. The sculpture, which carries a tangled nest of debris, represents material once swept down the Weser, symbolising the city's negotiation with its energies and changes.
The "Breman/Bremensch" installation is not just a physical representation but also a metaphorical one. It depicts the city as being torn back and forth in an absurd negotiation with the energies of the river, reflecting the challenges and transformations Bremen has faced throughout its history.
Mohar Kalra's artistic works often revolve around human entanglement in technological and ecological systems. His interactive works are known for their poetic and humorous explorations, making "Breman/Bremensch" an exciting addition to the city's cultural landscape.
It's worth noting that Mohar Kalra is currently pursuing a master's degree in Digital Media at the University of the Arts Bremen. His passion for art and technology is evident in his work, making "Breman/Bremensch" a testament to the vibrant artistic community in the city.
Visitors to Bremen this September are encouraged to take a stroll along the Weserpromenade and witness this thought-provoking installation. "Breman/Bremensch" invites reflection on the city's identity, its relationship with the Weser river, and the ongoing negotiation between urban life and natural elements.
