Questioning the possibility of adopting zebra patterns for the online market in Ueckermünde Ost?
In the picturesque town of Ueckermünde, traffic concerns have been a hot topic of discussion lately, with the city administration and the AfD faction of the city council proposing various solutions to improve the situation.
One of the contentious areas is the intersection of Oststraße and Berndshofer Landstraße, where a large tree belonging to the county is blocking the advance warning sign. Sven Behnke, the head of the building department, has stated that this issue is not their responsibility. However, the AfD faction has requested changes to this intersection, arguing that the traffic light is not clearly visible when approaching from the city towards Berndshofer Landstraße.
Another area of concern is the Schafbrückweg, a road that should be 5.50 meters wide but was narrowed during construction due to it being a school route. A discussion about re-evaluating the pros and cons of the narrowed Schafbrückweg is planned at the town hall. Resident Andreas Kliewe has also requested the relocation of the traffic light at Geschwister-Scholl-Straße, as it was installed for safe school routes for elementary school students.
The city administration has made proposals to improve the traffic situation at Schafbrückweg and Oststraße. Additionally, the AfD faction has proposed the installation of zebra crossings at the Netto market and at Netto Belliner Straße, where there have been repeated requests from citizens.
The road authority in Neustrelitz has informed that a zebra crossing is not possible on the federal road, but the city's ordinance committee is considering these proposals. The AfD faction has also suggested the installation of green arrows for right-turners from Eggesin and the Eggesiner Straße/Berndshofer Landstraße intersection to improve traffic flow.
Traffic congestion occurs near the Schafbrückweg due to many people traveling to the gymnasium and hospital, school buses, and large vehicles. The AfD faction has complained about the traffic light system on Eggesiner Straße/Belliner Straße hindering smooth traffic flow, especially during the off-peak season.
The AfD faction aims to make the city safer and improve traffic flow with these proposals. Sven Behnke, the building department head, stated that they cannot override regulations, but they are committed to addressing the traffic concerns in Ueckermünde. The city council and the AfD faction will continue to work together to find solutions to these issues and ensure the safety and efficiency of the town's traffic system.
