Recycled artworks by Every Can Counts make their appearance in City Grill Group's eateries, transforming sustainability into a tangible, visual encounter
The I CAN installations by Every Can Counts are set to promote recycling awareness and encourage can recycling through creative visual artworks in Bucharest, Romania. These installations, which will also be featured in other major cities like Cluj and Timișoara in the coming months, turn sustainability messages into a visual experience, highlighting the importance of recycling aluminum cans to reduce waste and environmental impact.
From July 15 to 30, 2023, the I CAN campaign will feature installations located at prominent city points across Bucharest. While exact locations are not yet confirmed, the exhibition is part of a public engagement effort to raise awareness about recycling among citizens, using eye-catching art to communicate the message.
The impact of the I CAN campaign is threefold:
- Increasing public awareness and participation in aluminum can recycling.
- Encouraging behavioral change toward more sustainable waste management.
- Connecting everyday recycling actions to larger environmental benefits through creative engagement.
Every Can Counts is a pan-European recycling initiative that promotes responsible disposal of aluminum cans through education and community projects. This campaign is supported by partners such as wall-street.ro, start-up.ro, retail.ro, Alucro Association, CANPACK Recycling, CANPACK Romania, Bringo Romania, and the restaurants within City Grill Group.
City Grill Group supports the initiative by hosting the artworks in its restaurants, offering visibility and cultural relevance to the campaign. Sustainability is already a part of City Grill Group's daily operations, including digital menus, food waste reduction, and the recycling of packaging, including aluminium cans.
The installations, built entirely out of aluminium drink cans, are on display at five City Grill Group restaurants in Bucharest from July 15 to 30. Each artwork carries an inspiring message and brings the conversation around recycling into everyday life and public spaces.
Local visual artist Sergiu Chihaia created the installations, which were exhibited in public festivals and museums in June, reaching thousands of people. Initiatives like I CAN are vital in raising awareness and turning recycling into a visible, everyday habit. The Every Can Counts initiative in Romania is supported by CANPACK - a major producer of aluminium beverage cans.
According to Every Can Counts analysis, Romania's aluminium can recycling rate more than doubled from 35% in 2022 to over 74% in early 2025. This partnership between Every Can Counts and City Grill Group aims to inspire environmental action through everyday interactions, reflecting a growing trend in urban sustainability: using public art to inspire environmental action.
The I CAN tour will continue in other major cities, with the aim of fostering a culture of recycling across Romania. For more details about the Every Can Counts initiative, visit everycancounts.eu.
