Renovation and Construction Project Transforms Berlin-Wedding Neighborhood

A significant transformation is underway in the Berlin-Wedding district, as the Gemeinnützige Baugenossenschaft Steglitz eG (GBSt) works on a comprehensive project at Müllerstraße 22b/23 and Antonstraße 2. The project, which is nearing completion, includes the renovation of existing apartments, the construction of new housing, and the repurposing of old commercial spaces.

At the heart of the project is the renovation of 28 apartments currently under rent control regulations. The aim is to secure tenancy in the long term while implementing energy-efficient measures. These measures include green roofs, photovoltaic systems, and facade renovations. The exterior facade work is advanced, with windows installed, balconies added, and a white-grey design characterizing the street.

In addition to the apartment renovations, ten new cooperative apartments are being constructed to replace a demolished corner building. The new apartments will cater to a mix of different housing needs, contributing to the provision of additional living space for Wedding.

The project also includes the transformation of a former gas station into an e-charging station with nine fast-charging points. This initiative aims to boost the development of a vibrant neighborhood by linking housing construction and mobility offerings.

One unique aspect of the project is the conversion of a former casino floor into a care living community. A care living community for twelve people is being created on the first floor, providing much-needed care services in the area.

Interior fit-out work is currently underway, with the project expected to be completed later this year. The complex at Müllerstraße 22b/23 and Antonstraße 2 combines residential construction, care services, energy supply, and climate protection, making it a model for sustainable urban development.

The GBSt, a cooperative responsible for planning and realizing the residential construction project at Müllerstraße in Berlin-Wedding, is committed to providing additional benefits to both tenants and the neighborhood. By focusing on energy-efficient renovation and linking housing construction with mobility offerings, the project is set to make a positive impact on the local community.
