Swift action pays off.
Gütersloh Launches Affordable Fruit Tree Sale for Greener Gardens
In an effort to promote biodiversity and greener living, the Municipality of Gütersloh, Germany, has launched an affordable fruit tree sale. The sale, which took place in September 2025, offers a variety of fruit trees at a discounted price of 20 euros each.
The sale includes six apple trees, two pear trees, one plum tree, one walnut, and one chestnut. Each purchase comes with a planting kit containing a stake, coconut rope, and planting instructions. To ensure a smooth distribution process, participants will be assigned individual time slots for pickup.
The sale is subject to a condition: the trees must be planted in a Gütersloh garden with at least eight square meters of planting area. This condition aims to contribute to the city's green initiatives and promote sustainable living.
To apply, interested parties can submit their orders through the online application form available at www.nature.ourwebsite. After submitting the application form, applicants will receive an invoice for their share. Only those who pay on time will receive a tree, and if payment is not received in time, the next person on the waiting list will be contacted.
To help with the gardening process, the GNU (Society for Nature and Environmental Protection in the Gütersloh district) will be present to provide tips on designing a natural garden for more biodiversity. Additionally, there will be tips on planting and caring for the trees provided.
Due to limited quantities per variety, it is recommended that interested parties indicate a second choice when ordering. The distribution of the fruit trees will take place on Saturday, 22. November, at Westring 119. For any queries about the offer, interested parties can contact Hans-Bernd Hensen from the Environmental Protection Department by phone at 05241 / 82-2084 or via email at environment@ourwebsite.
With this fruit tree sale, Gütersloh encourages its residents to take part in making the city greener and more biodiverse, one garden at a time.
