Vegetable Merchant Otto Jurgens Retires from Harburg Weekly Market

After a remarkable 50-year run, Otto Jurgens is retiring from his vegetable stand at the Harburg weekly market. The 70-year-old merchant took over the stand from his mother Anni Jurgens in 1974, at the age of 20.

On Saturday, Jurgens will be coming to the market for the last time. He expressed his gratitude to his customers and employees, saying, "I've had the pleasure of serving this community for half a century, and I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

To ensure continuity of service, a team consisting of Francisca Dizon, Dörte Ulrich, and Andrea Räse will be taking over the stand. Dizon has been chosen as the successor, and she will be responsible for managing the stand following Jurgens' retirement.

Dörte Ulrich and Andrea Räse will continue to work alongside Dizon, providing the same friendly service that customers have come to expect. The team promises to maintain the stand's supply of fresh vegetables, fruits, and eggs.

Jurgens has been a familiar face at the market, supplying customers with a wide variety of produce and eggs. His retirement marks the end of an era, but the market stand will continue to be operated by a proven team with the addition of Dizon, Ulrich, and Räse.

The Elstorfer has been coming to the Harburg weekly market for 50 years, and Jurgens' retirement will not change that. The market will continue to be a vibrant and bustling place, offering fresh produce and a sense of community to its customers.

As Jurgens says goodbye, he leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. His customers and employees will miss him, but they are excited for the future and the new chapter that the market stand will embark on with Dizon, Ulrich, and Räse at the helm.

Even after Otto Jurgens' retirement, the traditional home-and-garden shopping experience at the Harburg weekly market will continue, thanks to the to-be-manager Francisca Dizon and her team, including Dörte Ulrich and Andrea Räse. Customers can still find their favorite other lifestyle products, such as fresh vegetables, fruits, and eggs, at the stand.
