Trailer delivered for road safety awareness campaign
In a bid to promote road safety for children, the city of Weiterstadt has received a new traffic education trailer as part of the nationwide action "Red Knight". The donation was made by Sovereign Speed Weiterstadt, and the trailer is set to be used in kindergartens and elementary schools within the city.
The Red Knight initiative, organised by the Federal Ministry of Transport and the organization "Action Children Accident Help", aims to increase road safety for children by offering practical training and awareness. The trailer contains scooters, bicycles, child-friendly traffic signs, and other play and learning materials related to road traffic, providing hands-on learning experiences about traffic rules, safety precautions, and proper conduct as pedestrians or cyclists.
Mayor Ralf Müller (SPD) expressed his delight at the handover of the trailer, thanking Sovereign Speed for their commitment. Thorsten Döring, fleet manager at Sovereign Speed, played a personal role in connecting Weiterstadt with the company for the donation.
Meanwhile, in Darmstadt, the "Teddy Hospital" continues to serve its unique purpose. Designed for teddy bears and other cuddly toys, the hospital is run by medical students and is used for play and learning about medical procedures. Its aim is to help children overcome their fear of doctors.
Unfortunately, playgrounds in Weiterstadt have been affected by vandalism, leading to increased security measures by the city administration. However, no specific connection has been established between these events and the Teddy Hospital or the mobility support point in the Lincoln settlement, which was recently inaugurated by the HEAG.
The HEAG aims to advise up to 8,000 potential customers at the new mobility support point. By providing comprehensive traffic education and promoting a culture of road safety from an early age, initiatives like the Red Knight and the Teddy Hospital are making significant strides in ensuring the safety of children in both playgrounds and on the roads.

- As an extension of the traffic safety initiatives, some educational programs could be established in Weiterstadt, focusing on sustainable living, home-and-garden, and other lifestyle aspects, teaching children essential skills for a more eco-friendly and responsible lifestyle.
- In addition to road safety, the city council of Weiterstadt, inspired by the success of the Red Knight and Teddy Hospital initiatives, could consider launching programs that promote sustainable living, encouraging children to understand and adopt practices that contribute to a healthier and greener planet, such as recycling, energy conservation, and organic gardening.
