Two shows taking place at the nEUROPA art gallery
In August, art enthusiasts in Dresden, Germany, have a unique opportunity to attend two captivating exhibitions at the nEUROPA Gallery.
Firstly, Belarusian photographer Andrei Liankevich will showcase his works from August 1st to November 3rd. The exhibition, titled "Traditional Belarusian Interiors," presents a photographic project documenting the gradual disappearance of traditional Belarusian interiors. This exhibition aims to preserve cultural memory and highlight the historical and cultural aspects of Belarusian heritage.
Liankevich, who was one of the most influential artists in Belarus between 2000 and 2010, has participated in over 60 exhibitions worldwide and published a book on Belarusian pagan traditions. His works have been featured in international media such as the New York Times, Le Figaro, Newsweek, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, GEO, Vanity Fair, Readers Digest, and the International Herald Tribune.
The vernissage for Liankevich's exhibition will take place on August 1st, from 8 pm to 10 pm, with a special opening on August 2nd, from 5 pm to 7 pm. The gallery, located at Bautzner Straße 49, is typically open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00, or by arrangement.
Simultaneously, the nEUROPA Gallery will host "Atlas on Tour," a performance by clown Atlas. This tour explores themes of transformation, gravity, and ecological change, with Atlas speaking with people, animals, and plants, raising questions about the future of a region shaped by coal mining. Atlas, who travels on a cargo bike, will be in Dresden on August 5th.
On August 5th, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, there will be a pop-up exhibition with a workshop on the Neustaedter Market. The exhibition will culminate in a discussion on the entire project at 7 pm in the nEUROPA gallery.
Both exhibitions are curated by Matthias Schumann and are part of the culturally and socially engaged exhibitions at nEUROPA Gallery, which is supported by Kultur Aktiv e.V., an organisation that backs cross-cultural art projects.
