In the world of motorsport, few names resonate as deeply as Ayrton Senna. His skill, determination, and charisma made him one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history. Now, a piece of that history is up for grabs – Senna's personal 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet.

During his off-seasons in Portugal, Senna used this car to explore the countryside around his friend Antonio Carlos de Almeida Braga's home in Sintra. Although the car was not registered in Senna's name due to Portugal's restrictions on foreign nationals, it was his personal ride during those relaxing times away from the pressures of competition.

The car is more than just a classic air-cooled 911. It carries Senna’s signature on the back of the driver's seat, making it a tangible piece of Formula 1 history linked to one of the greatest drivers ever. The signature adds exceptional historical significance, and during his breaks from the pressures of competition, Senna enjoyed driving this car purely for the experience, without telemetry, team radios, or race stakes—just the natural driving pleasure from its flat-six engine and manual transmission.

As for its current status, the car was auctioned on SBX Cars in late July 2025, with bidding reaching approximately €620,000 (around $728,700 USD). The auction presence shows the car’s value far exceeds that of a comparable 1987 Porsche 911 Cabriolet due to its exceptional provenance.

Regarding restoration, the car appears to be preserved with key historical elements intact, including Senna’s signature, which suggests a careful maintenance of its original character rather than a full restoration. In 2024, Portuguese specialists Love My Car undertook a restoration to return the car to its original specifications, ensuring it maintains its classic 16-inch Fuchs wheels with polished outer lips, and the original OH-18-13 license plate and Senna's signature remain with the car as permanent proof of its pedigree.

The car has remarkably low mileage for its age, with 74,462 kilometers (46,268 miles) on the odometer. Its extensive documentation includes Portuguese registration papers, service records, restoration photos, and an appearance in the 2010 Netflix documentary "Senna."

This car exemplifies a unique intersection of classic automotive design and legendary motorsport heritage. It's not just a collector's item—it's a piece of history. If you're a fan of Ayrton Senna, motorsport, or simply a lover of classic cars, this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet is an opportunity not to be missed. The current bidding for the car is €620,000 ($728,700) and the auction is soon to end. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of Formula 1 history.

This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet, owned by Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna, offers a unique blend of home-and-garden lifestyle (a scenic exploration of the Portuguese countryside) and sports (its use as Senna's personal vehicle during his relaxation periods from racing). Its stylish heritage extends beyond its classic design, as it carries Senna's signature, a testament to its lifestyle association with one of the greatest drivers in history. The car's value is considerably higher than a regular 1987 Porsche 911 Cabriolet due to its racing pedigree, making it an intriguing addition to any car collection or for those who appreciate the world of motorsport.
