In the heart of Erfurt, Germany, a welcome change is taking place. The Parks and Cemetery Office has taken the initiative to install 15 seating beds in the city center, aiming to improve the cityscape in the long term.

This move is a response to the residents' desire for more greenery and seating in the bustling city center. The seating beds, a unique combination of wooden benches and planting areas, have been strategically placed at Anger, Domplatz, Theaterplatz, Gothaer Platz, Schlossbrücke, and Hirschgarten.

These prefabricated modules not only offer a comfortable spot for rest but also serve as vibrant green spaces, filled with a variety of plants. Depending on the season, pedestrians can find themselves surrounded by grasses, sage, and lavender while taking a seat.

One standout feature among these seating beds is the green bench at Hirschgarten, which is adorned with cacti and succulents, thanks to the local company Kakteen-Haage.

It's worth noting that these seating beds are only moved for events, ensuring they are always available for the public to enjoy.

This initiative is part of a growing trend in German cities, focusing on increasing green areas, planting trees, and enhancing public seating for comfort and social interaction.
